The Bass Federation of Texas 2010 Club Team Championship Event

The Bass Federation of Texas Club Team Championship was held at Lake Livingston on November 20-21, 2010. Clubs fished a top-six team format during the two day event. Each club fished together as three two-person teams, competing against the other clubs' teams.

On Sunday afternoon, the results were tallied, and the clubs gathered at the marina for an awards ceremony. Clubs were awarded from last to first. The TBF president was now ready to announce first place. He called out the first place club with a total weight of 70.42lbs, four pounds ahead of the closest competitors.

While the brief applause subsided, the six club members rose and started walking to the front of the room. As the team approached the president, a young voice from the back of the room could be heard over the room chatter: "Why, they're just a bunch of old men!" That's right boys, the Bryan Bass Club top-six team came from behind in third place on Saturday to finish first on Sunday. The victory was "sweet" like one of our team members would say.

The top-six team consisted of Sam Fling, Clyde Wilkerson, Bob Barnes, Randy Knight, Ray Rippstein, and Richard Sebesta. Long-time members Sam, Bob, Clyde and Ray may admit to some age now, but the other two don't have gray hair quite yet.

On Saturday, each two-man team was permitted a six bass limit. However, on Sunday, the limits were changed for the club's three two-person teams. Team one's limit was six bass, team two's limit was four bass, and team three's limit was three bass. Furthermore, team three could give bass to team two and one, and team two could give bass to team one. No reverse-order sharing was allowed, and each boat could not retain more than their limit. For Bryan Bass Club, no sharing was necessary, each team caught their limit.

Bob Barnes claimed the daily "big bass" award on Sunday with a 5.33lb bass, and his was the biggest bass of the tournament.
