Sam Rayburn - Bryan Bass Club - January 21-22, 2006

Conditions: Cool mornings, moderate north winds. Water temperatures in the 50's, stained water clarity up to the 147 bridge, lake level three foot low. Twelve members and guests fished the club tournament launching at the Pavillion along with Texas BASS Federarion Southeast Region.

Results: Todd Carnes picked up 10.74 lbs on Saturday to claim first place. David Crowson had 9.93 lbs on Saturday for second place. Doug Fuqua caught 8.46 lbs on Sunday to finish third.

Patterns: Todd used a chrome/black color Ratl-trap shallow and a carolina-rigged watermelon/red color Zoom mag lizard deeper near the Harvey Creek area. David didn't share a report. Doug used a carolina-rigged pumpkinseed color worm in Ayish Bayou.


Conroe - Bryan Bass Club - February 11-12, 2006

Conditions: Dangerous north winds on Saturday, moderating on Sunday. Water temperatures in the 50's, muddy water conditions, lake level three foot low. Thirteen members and guests fished the club tournament launching at Anchorage Marina along with Texas BASS Federarion Southeast Region.

Results: Sam Fling caught 16.13 lbs on Sunday for first place. Brent Sebesta caught 5.94 on Sunday for second place. Doug Fuqua had a 3.21 lb bass on Saturday to finish third. Sam claimed the big bass pot with a nice 7.53 lb beauty.

Patterns: Sam ran a green/yellow color DD-22 in deep water near the dam. Brent threw a tx-rigged junebug color Zoom Big Dead Ringer on the east side of the lake. Doug cast a carolina-rigged pumpkinseed color Lake Fork Ringworm near the west side of the main bridge.


Somerville - Bryan Bass Club - March18-19, 2006

Conditions: Mild mornings, variable winds shifting to the south. Water temperatures in the low 60's, muddy water clarity, lake level two foot low. Twelve members and guests fished the club tournament launching at the Overlook Park ramp along with Texas BASS Federarion Southeast Region.

Results: Bill Rule caught 15.66 lbs on Saturday for first place. Doug Fuqua caught 13.53 lbs on Saturday for second. Bob Barnes had 11.96 lbs on Saturday to finish third.

Patterns: Bill fished the Pecan Lake area with a black red-flake color Zoom Speed Worm. Doug used a chistmas color Yamamoto Senko near rocks. Bob pitched a tx-rigged watermelon-red color Lake Fork Craw at shallow stumps.


Limestone - Bryan Bass Club - April 08-09, 2006

Conditions: Mild mornings, variable north then south winds. Water temperatures in the high 60's, stained water clarity, lake level six inches low. Twelve members and guests fished the club tournament launching at the west dam ramp along with Texas BASS Federarion Southeast Region.

Results: Doug Fuqua had 8.85 lbs on Saturday for first place. Mike James brought in 8.52 lbs on Saturday for second place. Mikel Stephens caught 8.22 lbs on Sunday to finish third.

Patterns: Doug used a wacky-rigged christmas color Yamamoto Senko in areas north of the power lines. Mike pitched shallow with a blak-red color tube bait in mid-lake areas. Mikel also fished mid-lake areas shallow with a white skirt willow blades 3/8 oz spinner bait and a redbug color ring fry.


Coleto Creek - Bryan Bass Club - May 06-07, 2006

Conditions: Unpredictable winds, then a huge surging wall cloud dropped lightning and rain on Saturday, followed by calmer conditions on Sunday. Water temperatures in the low 70's, stained water clarity, lake level three feet low. Thirteen members and guests fished the club tournament launching at the park ramp along with Texas BASS Federarion Southeast Region.

Results: Randy Knight claimed first place with 15.76 lbs on Saturday. Bob Barnes turned it around on Sunday catching 14.31 lbs for second, held back by a small bass that died in his livewell and had to be retained as part of his limit according to club rules. Clyde finished third with 12.29 lbs on Saturday.

Patterns: Culling was normal. Randy used a new "chatter bait" and a Norman pearl/green-back crankbait around stumps in 3 to 5 feet of water. Bob used a similar crankbait and 1/2 oz black-blue color "chatter bait," plus pitched a watermelon red clolor Lake Fork Craw at shallow cover. Clyde used a carolina rigged christmas color Yamamoto Senko to get his limits off a community hole.


Toledo Bend - Bryan Bass Club - June 17-18, 2006

Conditions: Moderate south wind on Saturday followed by strong thunderstorms Sunday. Water temperatures in the mid 70's, stained water clarity, lake level three feet low. Thirteen members and guests fished the club tournament launching at Alpine Marina along with Texas BASS Federarion Southeast Region.

Results: Clyde Wilkerson took first place with 8.55 lbs on Sunday. Randy Knight finished second with 6.80 lbs on Saturday and got a check in the Federation event. Bob Barnes turned it around on Sunday catching two 5.37 lbs bass for third.

Patterns: Over half the 105 person field in the Federation tournament zeroed on Saturday with only one limit caught and only fifteen with three or more. Fishing this weekend was unusually off. Clyde used a Bandit crankbait and corolina-rigged watermelon color waffle worm on weed lines near the bridge. Randy used a 1/2 oz chatter-bait rigged with a fluke instead of a skirt in 13' water arouind Six Mile and Housen. Bob flipped grass lines near Patroon with a 3/4 oz tx-rigged watermelon-red color Zoom Ol' Monster worm.


Sam Rayburn - Bryan Bass Club - July 15-16, 2006

Conditions: Calm wind, heat/humidity and plenty of sunshine. Water temperatures in the 80's, clear water clarity, lake level three feet low. Ten members and guests fished the club tournament launching at Cassels Boykin county ramp.

Results: Bob Barnes finished in first place with 13.65 lbs on Saturday. Randy Knight finished second with 11.86 lbs on Sunday. Clyde Wilkerson caught 10.95 lbs on Sunday for third place.

Patterns: Bob fished the thick pads in the canyons using christmas-tree color Yamamoto Senkos. Randy used wacky-rigged Yamamoto Senkos and Zoom Trick Worms in watermelon colors in several mid lake coves working slowly along areas with submerged grass. Clyde fished caolina-rigged waffle worms and french frys in watermelon colors out in open 16-20 ft water near structure.


Choke Canyon - Bryan Bass Club - August 12-13, 2006

Conditions: Calm early then moderate south winds later, partly cloudy skies and plenty of heat/humidity. Water temperatures in the mid-80's, stained water clarity, lake level five feet low. Thirteen members and guests fished the club tournament launching at Calliham Unit state park ramp.

Patterns: Bill threw a a buzz bait near a main lake grass point early then flipped a florida-rigged watermelon-red color Zoom Mag II worm on inside grass lines. Doug cast a watermelon color trick worm in shallow three foot water depths. Randy cast a top-water frog early then flipped grass later. Ray worked a 5/16oz texas-rigged watermelon-red color Zoom Big Dead Ringer on a ten foot deep ledge drop-off for his big bass.

Sam Rayburn - Bryan Bass Club - September 23-24, 2006

Conditions: Mild Saturday shifting to moderate north winds Sunday with a front. Water temperatures in the upper-70's, stained water clarity, lake level four feet low. Twelve members and guests fished the club tournament launching at Cassels Boykin Saturday and protected Monterey Park Sunday.

Patterns: Randy said he was throwing a buzz bait, using a fluke and flipping. Clyde said he was using crankbaits, a centipede, a fluke, and a Zoom Big Dead Ringer on texas-rig, carolina-rig and drop-shot. Austin simply threw a white buzz bait all day. Bob said his big bass hit on a christmas color Yamamoto Senko in 6 foot water.

Choke Canyon - Bryan Bass Club - October 21-22, 2006

Conditions: Mderate south winds Saturday then north Sunday, partly cloudy skies with a front Sunday. Water temperatures in the mid-70's, stained water clarity, lake level six feet low. Eighteen members and guests fished the club tournament launching at South Shore Unit state park ramp.

Patterns: At the club meeting, Bill said his pattern involved a carolina rig, while Randy said he used everything like Senkos, spinnerbaits, crankbait, etc., not developing a particular pattern, Ray said he did what Bobby told him to do, pitching a watermelon-red color Zoom Baby Brush Hog into and along the deep edges of grass near the bank.

Limestone - Bryan Bass Club - November 18-19, 2006

Conditions: Mild south winds Saturday shifting to north Sunday. Water temperatures in the upper-60's, stained water clarity, lake level three feet low. Fourteen members and guests fished the club tournament staying at Running Branch but launching at County Park 2 near the bridge because of low water level.

Patterns: At the meeting, Ray said he used watermelon-red color Zoom Baby Brush Hog, watermelon-red color Yamamoto Senko, a 1/2 oz colorado blade Strike King spinner bait, and a watermelon color Berkley Frenzy crankbait to catch scattered bass in different locations on Saturday and a Senko on Sunday for some bass stacked up under a few boat docks. Clyde simply said he used a crankbait on Sunday, and Bill said his pattern involved a Senko. Bob didn't say how he caught his big bass.

Somerville - Bryan Bass Club - Decemberrrrrrrr 09-10, 2006

Conditions: Mild northeast winds Saturday with freezing temperatures shifting to a light southeast wind on Sunday with cold drizzle. Water temperatures dropping to the low-50's, stained water clarity, lake level normal. Fifteen members and guests fished this club tournament date, which doubled as the annual local club grudge match between the Brazos Valley Anglers Club and Bryan Bass Club, both clubs launching at Overlook Park. Bryan Bass Club won the friendly grudge match this year.
