Sam Rayburn

Bryan Bass Club - January 24-25, 2004

Conditions: Cold mornings, rain overnight, light wind Saturday, strong south wind Sunday. Water temperatures in the 50's, muddy to stained water clarity, lake level four foot low and rising. Twenty-four members and guests fished the club tournament, launching along with the Southeast Region B.A.S.S. Federation at the Shirley Creek ramp.

Results: Sam Fling had a solid 19.66 lb limit on Saturday to take a commanding first place. Todd carnes had 13.26 lbs on Saturday for second place. Don Gregg caught 11.95 lbs on Saturday to finish third. Sam had a 7.06 lb bass to claim the over-six big bass pot. Congratulations to Sam for representing the club well... his overall weigh claimed second place and his big bass took second place honors in the Federation tournament on Saturday.

Patterns: Sam used a Rayburn-red color Lewis 'trap in shallow grass next to a 8' channel. Todd used a yellow-belly color Lewis 'trap. Don fished a fire-tiger color Berkley Frenzy crankbait and an 8" worm in the very back of a cove.

Livingston

Bryan Bass Club - February 28-29, 2004

Conditions: Cool mornings, warm afternoons, strong south wind Saturday with a rain front hitting noon Sunday from the north. Water temperatures in the upper 50's, muddy water clarity, lake level six inches high and dropping to normal pool overnight. Seventeen members and guests fished the club tournament, launching along with the Southeast Region B.A.S.S. Federation at the Lakeview marina ramp on Saturday and then at wind protected Galoway's marina ramp on Sunday.

Results: Don Gregg solved the bass bite puzzle landing four for 11.95 lbs on Saturday. Ray Rippstein finished a distant second with two bass weighing 6.67 lbs with Todd Carnes third with 6.63 lbs. Congratulatiions to Don for representing our club well Saturday with a forth place finish in our region's tournament.

Patterns: Don fished shallow in the very back of a cove between Galloway's and the bridge using a spinnerbait. Ray flipped a half oz. florida-rig StrikeKing black-blue tube bait near isolated hardwood targets in shallow flats around White Rock. Todd flipped a black-blue tube into reeds.

Conroe

Bryan Bass Club - March 27-28, 2004

Conditions: Mild weather both days, a little south wind on Sunday. Water temperatures in the mid 60's, stained water clarity, normal level. Twenty-two members and guests fished the club tournament, launching along with the Southeast Region B.A.S.S. Federation Saturday at the April Plaza marina ramp.

Results: Bob Barnes hit the lake "cold turkey" Sunday and caught a limit weighing 16.16 lbs for first place. Sam Fling caught 12.59 lbs for second place. Doug Fuqua finished third with 8.87 lbs. Sam claimed the rollover big bass pot with a 6.20 lb beauty.

Patterns: Bob fished flooded shoreline grass in the back of shallow pockets north of the bridge using 1/16th oz weighted tubes or craw worms in rootbeer with green flake colors tip-dipped with chartreuse. Sam fished in the same areas using a Senko in green colors and a 1/16 oz weighted watermelon color tube both tip-dipped with chartreuse. Doug used a 1/16th oz weighted Lake Fork ring-fry in brown chartreuse color.

Limestone

Bryan Bass Club - April 17-18, 2004

Conditions: Mild cloudy weather with south wind both days. Water temperatures in the upper 60's, stained water clarity, normal level. Twenty-six members and guests fished the club tournament, launching along with the Southeast Region B.A.S.S. Federation Saturday at the county ramp near the BRA headquarters at the dam.

Results: Bob Barnes caught 12.41 lbs Sunday for another first place finish. Don Gregg had 11.29 lbs Saturday for second, doing well in the BASS Federation regional. Todd Carnes weighed 10.94 lbs Saturday for third.

Patterns: Bob tried some new areas north of the power lines flipping shallow cover using a Lake Fork Tube Craw in watermelon red color. Don cranked a Flat A crankbait in 2-4 foot water. Todd flipped boat docks and brush piles but caught one nice bass using a buzz bait at noon.

Toledo Bend

Bryan Bass Club - May 15-16, 2004

Conditions: Mild partly cloudy weather with south west wind both days and scattered late afternoon thunderstorms. Water temperatures in the 70's, stained water clarity, lake level one foot high and dropping. Thirteen members and guests fished the club tournament, launching along with the Southeast Region B.A.S.S. Federation Saturday at the Alpine marina ramp.

Results: Sam Fling dominated on his home lake with 11.23 lbs on Sunday for first. Don Gregg caught 10.49 lbs Saturday for second also doing well again in the BASS Federation regional. Bob Barnes caught 10.39 lbs Sunday for third.

Patterns: Sam covered his home waters with a special Falcon Tackle weighted hook in a watermelon-red color Zoom fluke, letting it drift down into shalow grass near deep water. Don used a shad color Flat A crankbait again and also a watermelon-red color Zoom wacky worm in 6-8 foot water near the launch area. Bob repeated his success with his Lake Fork Tube Craw in watermelon-red color again and also tried a Pop-R topwater in yellow with black back color.

Sam Rayburn

Bryan Bass Club - June 19-20, 2004

Conditions: Mild partly cloudy weather with light variable wind both days ending with scattered late afternoon thunderstorms. Water temperatures in the 80's, stained water clarity, lake level two foot high and dropping. Fourteen members and guests fished the club tournament, launching along with the Southeast Region B.A.S.S. Federation Saturday at the Mill Creek corps park ramp.

Results: Mark Beckman took command with a first place 14.49 lb limit on Saturday, also doing well in the BASS Federation Regional. Similarly, Todd Carnes did well in both tournaments with 13.22 lbs to finish in second place with the club. Larry Hale showed his stuff with a third place weight of 10.39 lbs.

Patterns: Mark wasn't at the meeting to say how he caught his bass. Todd said he used a top-water Dalton Special in frog color, a large worm and a wacky-rigged Senko. Larry used a black color buzz-bait early and 3/16 oz Texas rigged Zoom Baby Brushhog in black saphire color.

Bryan Bass Club - July 24-25, 2004

Conditions: Warm partly cloudy days with light south wind one day shifting north the next. Water temperatures in the 80's, stained water clarity, normal level. Fifteen members and guests fished the club tournament, launching at the county ramp near the BRA headquarters at the dam.

Results: Bob Barnes caught 8.55 lbs on Saturday for first place. Don Gregg weighed in 7.08 lbs on Saturday for second place on his home lake. Ray Rippstein caught three bass that weighed 6.76 lbs on Sunday for third. Ray also caught a 6.29 lb bass on Saturday to claim the over-six big bass pot.

Patterns: Bob tried some areas north of the power lines flipping reeds or boat docks using a Lake Fork Creature bait in green pumpkin color or a Zoom Fluke in watermelon color. Don flipped lower lake areas of eel grass with wacky-rigged Zoom Trick Worms in green pumpkin color or Zoom Baby Brush Hogs in watermelon red color. Ray fished areas north of the power lines pitching a florida-rigged Zoom Baby Brush Hog in watermelon color along the inside edge of eel grass shaded under narrow walkways to boat docks. The big bass hit on a florida-rigged Zoom Mag II Worm in green pumpkin color worked near a stump off the end of a boat dock.

Stillhouse Hollow

Bryan Bass Club - August 14-15, 2004

Conditions: Warm partly cloudy days with light south winds. Water temperatures in the 70's, stained clarity, normal level. Eighteen members and guests fished the club tournament, launching at the corps ramp near Rivers Bend.

Results: Randy Knight caught 10.81 lbs on Saturday for first place. Sam Fling had a 7.67 lb limit on Sunday for second place. Don Gregg picked up 6.95 lbs on Saturday for third.

Patterns: Randy threw a carolina-rigged blue-flake colored worm in 4-6' grass near a road bed. Sam used a 1/2 oz chrome-blue colored rat-l-trap behind the island. Don threw a chartreuse blue-back colored Bomber 400 crankbait off points.

Livingston

Bryan Bass Club - September 11-12, 2004

Conditions: Warm days with mild to brisk southwest winds. Water temperatures in the 70's, muddy clarity, normal level. Eleven members and guests fished the club tournament, launching at Waterwood marina ramp.

Results: Bob Barnes took first place easily with 14.62 lbs on Saturday. Mike James found 12.36 lbs on Sunday for second place. Randy Knight had 11.73 lbs on Sunday for third.

Patterns: Bob bumped chartruese blue-back color Bandit crankbaits off stumps in Kickapoo. Mike used a carolna-rigged watermelon color trick worm on a main lake point. Randy used a fire-tiger color crankbait near timber in Kickapoo.

Richland Chambers

Bryan Bass Club - October 9-10, 2004

Conditions: Warm days with occasional south winds. Water temperatures in the 70's, stained clarity, about a foot high. Thirteen members and guests fished the club tournament, launching at Oak Cove marina ramp.

Results: David Crowson returned to take first place with a decisive15.03 lbs on Saturday. Don Gregg weighed in 11.49 lbs on Saturday for second place. Sam Fling had 10.56 lbs on Sunday for third. David had a 7.33 lb big bass to claim the over-six big bass pot.

Patterns: David used a pop-r over grass and flipped boat docks with a watermelon color craw worm. Don used a black buzz-bait and a 3/8 oz white spinner-bait in shallow pockets around the Chambers arm. Sam cranked a chrome-blue color rat-l-trap with red hooks and a pop-r over submerged grass in pockets around the Chambers arm.

Sam Rayburn

Bryan Bass Club - November 20-21, 2004

Conditions: Partly cloudy to rainy cool days with brisk south east winds. Water temperatures in the upper 60's, stained clarity, about two foot high. Eleven members and guests fished the club tournament, launching at Cassells Boykin park ramp.

Results: Ray Rippstein stumbled across a 14.97 lb limit on Saturday for a rare first place finish. Sam Fling picked up 13.32 lbs on Sunday to claim second. Don Gregg weighed in 12.43 lbs on Saturday for third place.

Patterns: Ray skimmed a pumpkin-pearl color Zoom horny toad through lilly pads in 6-8' water near the Canyons. Sam also used the Zoom toad but switched to a spinner bait in shallower pads after the water level dropped a foot overnight Saturday. Don used a crankbait and a chartreuse-white color spinner bait west of the launch site.

Limestone

Bryan Bass Club - December 04-05, 2004

Conditions: Partly cloudy cool days with brisk south west winds. Water temperatures in the low 60's, stained clarity, normal pool. Fifteen members and guests fished the club tournament, launching at the ramp near the BRA headquaters at the dam.

Results: Jack Gressett had a commanding 15.01 lb limit on Saturday for first place. Bob Barnes brought in 12.18 lbs on Saturday to claim second. David Crowson weighed in 10.80 lbs on Saturday to finish in third place. Bob had a 6.20 lb bass on Sunday to claim the over-six big bass pot.

Patterns: Jack pitched a 1/8 oz junebug color tube-bait around the shore side of boat docks. Bob fished docks similarly with chartreuse-white color spinner baits and watermelon color tube-baits and Lake Fork Tackle craw worms.
